Meet the women of Ballymore - Francesca Walsh

IT specialist Francesca Walsh has been with Ballymore for six years, working across every department in the business, supporting projects throughout their lifecycle.

PEOPLE

An expert on information governance and digital standards, Francesca shares why bringing order to complexity is the perfect job for her, and how there is so much more to working in construction than being onsite.

I really enjoy my job and am proud that that the systems and frameworks I’ve been a part of directly support successful project outcomes each day at Ballymore.

I lead on our information governance and digital standards at Ballymore, ensuring compliance and embedding workflows which support efficient, audit-ready delivery from mobilisation through to completion. At its core, my role is about creating clarity, reducing risk, and enabling better decision-making through strong information management.

No two days are the same, which I really like. I might be reviewing compliance requirements, conducting audits, visiting sites, supporting project teams with information queries, or working with departments to streamline internal processes.

“I really enjoy my job and am proud that that the systems and frameworks I’ve been a part of directly support successful project outcomes each day at Ballymore.”

A changing sector
While construction is still a male-dominated industry, I’ve seen a great deal of positive change over the years, with more focus on inclusion and a growing number of women entering the sector.

I hope that trend continues, and that businesses like Ballymore can encourage women into construction, highlighting the many roles. Construction needs a wide range of skills and women bring valuable perspectives and strengths to every part of the business and I’m really proud and passionate about the work I do in IT, as I’m sure every female colleague is proud of their area of work too!

Building a strong skillset
I am proud of my experience too, before joining Ballymore, I worked in London across major infrastructure programmes including Crossrail, now known as the Elizabeth line, as well as the London City Airport Redevelopment. Before that, I worked at a law firm in Vancouver, and working within highly regulated industries strengthened my attention to detail, compliance mindset, and structured approach – something that really helps me in construction.

A balanced life
Outside of work though I love travelling and experiencing different cultures, particularly through art, sporting events, food, and wine. I study art whenever I can and enjoy visiting galleries or taking creative courses when time allows and I recently passed my WSET Level 1 in Wine, which was a personal milestone and something I’d love to continue developing further.

I also enjoy skiing whenever I get the opportunity, there’s nothing better than being in the mountains to completely switch off. Closer to home, I regularly practise Pilates and enjoy playing golf, both of which help me stay balanced and focused, especially in a fast-paced work environment.

Spending time with family and friends is incredibly important to me. I’m a very proud supporter of my nephews and love being on the sidelines at their football and rugby matches cheering them on. Whether it’s travelling, dinners, supporting family, or simply enjoying good company, that balance outside of work keeps me energised and grounded.
