The award was presented at the annual BITA Awards on Friday 2 October at The Chancery Rosewood Hotel in London’s Mayfair and recognises Sean’s career of more than 40 years. He founded Ballymore in Ireland in the early 1980s and went on to transform former industrial land in London, with a portfolio that now includes Embassy Gardens at Nine Elms, London City Island, projects across Europe and schemes in Ireland ranging from family homes to urban regeneration projects such as the Guinness Quarter in Dublin.
Sean is a founding Patron of BITA which brings together businesses from the UK and Ireland and now has 750 members, with chapters in the UK, Ireland and Dubai.

Accepting the award, Sean Mulryan said: “Business between the UK and Ireland is built on relationships and trust, and that’s what BITA creates. It brings people together, opens doors and champions best practice, and its growth to 750 members across three countries shows how valuable that is.
“I’m honoured to receive this award.”

Paul Whitnell, President of BITA, added: “Over the past decade BITA has celebrated its annual awards culminating with the Lifetime Achievement Award. This year’s award is really special as it has been awarded to an exceptional individual in Sean Mulryan, who has given so much to the construction industry. His vision, design and attention to detail have become the hallmark in both the UK and Ireland and all over the world.
“Sean is a founding Patron of BITA International and has been instrumental in giving me the support to build BITA and promote best practice, which is ingrained in his own company values.”
