Ballymore launches Wardian London’s West Tower
Today, Ballymore announce the launch of both the West Tower at Wardian London and ‘The Gardener’, a bespoke, indoor and outdoor landscaping service. The exciting development will launch its West Tower for sale on 21 April 2016 offering suites, one and two bedroom apartments. It is the second of two high-end residential towers overlooking South Dock with commanding views of Canary Wharf and each apartment offering an extensive private ‘sky garden’, up to 37.2 square metres in size. Wardian London is now adding to this tranquil oasis by offering ‘The Gardener’, which will provide a plethora of plant packages and comprehensive garden maintenance, tailored to fit residents’ lifestyles, with a florist on-site. The West Tower will also feature the serene ‘Western Garden’ – a large landscaped area, extending to four storeys, on the Western side of the building. In keeping with the design roots of the building and its namesake, Wardian glass cases - possibly the first flat-pack creations - Blackdown Horticulture, leading experts in roof gardens, have collaborated with Wardian London to make innovative ‘flat-pack gardens’ available to all buyers. Furthermore, residents will have access to The Wardian Club, offering a range of glamorous spaces and facilities. As across all their schemes, Ballymore will continue to manage the development after completion so residents will also benefit from an exceptional service level and 24 hour concierge. Ballymore has extensive experience in this area of London, having completed a number of property developments near to Canary Wharf including Providence Tower, New Providence Wharf, London City Island and Pan Peninsula. Over the past 25 years Ballymore has played a crucial role in the consolidation of Canary Wharf as a world-leading business centre and the opportunities in the area are set to grow as London’s focus shifts east. Rare plants and trees, like those first transported to London by Wardian Cases at the peak of the British Empire, will be sourced for the landscaped public areas. The Gardener is also delighted to be bringing the exceptionally uncommon Wollemi Pine to Wardian, as well as introducing a collection of succulents, providing high style and a thick, verdant landscape floor to all outdoor living space. These succulent plant collections display a seasonal variety, which allow the elevated outdoors to move with nature’s rhythms. Pioneering the fusion of grand architecture with botanical beauty, Wardian synthesises indoor and outdoor London living in an entirely new way. The Lobby exemplifies this ideal; its expansive columns intertwine with exotic foliage as sunlight shimmers through, lending it both a stratospheric grandeur and paradisiacal airiness. In addition to each apartment’s private garden, throughout the development, one finds a series of large, glass-cased gardens evoking visions of the botanic palm houses at Kew. The overall effect of this ground-breaking approach to landscaping is that when gazing at the buildings from a distance, a subtle green hue announces that this urban sanctuary really is something quite different. Huw Morgan, one of the UK’s leading landscape architects, working on this project commented, “The launch of the West Tower deservedly brings greenery to the fore and spearheads the movement for London to engage further with its green space. With our partners, we are offering customizable gardens to each resident to add to the hundred different exotic species of plants and flowers across the development. Wardian London truly manages to be a retreat in the middle of East London’s beating heart.” As Canary Wharf prepares to employ up to 200,000 people in the next two decades, Wardian London helps to meet the growing demand for residential property in East London and reinforces the Docklands area as the new hub for East London. Just a three minute walk from Cabot Square, Wardian London will comprise of 624 suites, apartments and penthouses in two luxurious tall buildings rising to 50 and 55 storeys, designed by Glenn Howells Architects. The first residents are expected to move in during 2019. John Mulryan, Managing Director of Ballymore UK, and responsible for Wardian London’s innovative botanical design said, “Today finally marks the day that our vision of outside-in living fully comes to life. We are known for creating wonderfully liveable spaces and, with ‘The Gardener’, we are not just delivering an ideal but a lifestyle. Wardian London reflects both Nathanial Ward’s spirit of adventure and our own ground-breaking ambitions; this project will cement our reputation of producing unrivalled, unique products.” - For more information, please contact: Hayleigh O’Farrell Head of Communications HO’Farrell@ballymoregroup.com 020 7510 8329 Further images are available on request.
