Finance Manager - Permanent, Canary Wharf (E14)

Are you an experienced finance professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering high‑quality service charge accounting? We’re looking for a proactive Finance Manager to lead our Property Accounting team and ensure the effective financial management of our residential developments portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business where you’ll play a key role in shaping processes, improving financial reporting, and supporting both internal and external stakeholders.
 
Key responsibilities include: 

Team Leadership and Oversight

  • Manage and supervise a team of Property Accountants responsible for the financial management of developments across the portfolio.
  • Provide training, technical support, and guidance on systems, accounting processes, and service charge reporting.
  • Review work prepared by the team and assist in resolving discrepancies, queries, and complex financial issues.
  • Allocate workloads, monitor progress, and ensure financial deadlines and service level agreements are met.

Service Charge Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of certified service charge accounts across a portfolio of developments.
  • Ensure year end service charge accounts are completed within five months of the financial year end.
  • Ensure balancing charges and credits are accurately calculated and issued to leaseholders.
  • Oversee and assist with the preparation of budget vs actual report. Ensure that the budget vs actual reports are reviewed with the Property Directors, and adjustments are posted promptly on Propman.
  • Oversee preparation of void schedules, financial forecasts, and development financial reviews. 
  • Ensure VAT reports and other financial submissions are prepared and submitted in line with requirements.

Budgets, Demands and Financial Monitoring

  • Assist with the preparation and entry of annual service charge budgets for developments.
  • Ensure service charge demands are raised correctly in line with the agreed budget and issued at least four weeks before the due date.
  • Monitor expenditure against budgets and provide financial insight and explanations to Property Directors.
  • Ensure monthly bank reconciliations are completed accurately for the assigned portfolio of developments. 
  • Support internal and external audit processes and ensure accounting records reconcile to financial systems.

Required skills, experience & qualifications:

  • Ideally qualified ACA, ACCA or MAAT, or qualified by experience and actively working towards a professional qualification.
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience of managing service charge accounting.
  • Good experience of service charge reporting gained either in practice or in the finance department of a Residential Managing Agent
  • Experience in managing junior accountants and with an interest in their development
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of PROPMAN is an advantage
  • Expected to demonstrate professionalism and an appreciation of Property accounting compliance requirements
