‘London City Island welcomes English National Ballet and English National Ballet School to their future island neighborhood
English National Ballet and English National Ballet School were welcomed to their future home at ‘London City Island’ – a new island neighbourhood which is set to become a hub for creative living and cultural excellence, and an important link between Canning Town and Canary Wharf. The highlight of the night was a beautiful performance of excerpts from Le Corsaire and A Room in New York by artists of English National Ballet company including Crystal Costa and James Forbat. This was followed by a stunning performance from pop superstar Jessie Ware, who performed to guests including Yasmin Le Bon, Donna Air, Nancy Del’Olio, Olivia Inge and James Norton. The night had begun with guests crossing London City Island’s iconic red bridge for the first ever time; celebrating the important link which Ballymore has built between the boroughs of Newham and Tower Hamlets. Guests were served decadent Island inspired canapés and cocktails, including black cod croquettes with champagne sauce, salmon roe nicoise stack and quail egg and smoked duck, orange and red wine gel. Those with a sweet tooth were spoiled with dark chocolate, coconut and pineapple popping truffles plus delicious mini gold champagne and raspberry jelly. Fruity and fresh cocktails were the perfect accompaniment for a balmy summer evening, including classic cocktails such as Gin Alexander, Elderflower Collins and a Sipsmith Summer cup. ‘London City Island’ is set to become a ‘mini Manhattan’ and will be home to 1,700 apartments, stunning al fresco spaces, vibrant new bars and restaurants, boutique shops and waterside parks. This unique new twelve acre island neighbourhood will become one of London’s most exciting and inspirational places to live, with an authentic and creative riverside community bursting with ideas and vitality, making it the perfect home for English National Ballet and English National Ballet School!
